Blue Ribbon
St. John Paul II Catholic in Houston, Texas is a four time National Blue Ribbon Award school.
On September 23, 2024 the U.S. Department of Education honored St. John Paul II Catholic School (StJPII) with the prestigious title of 2024 National Blue Ribbon School. This national distinction recognizes schools across the country for exceptional academic performance, and StJPII is proud to stand among the top educational institutions in the United States.
What makes this achievement truly extraordinary is that StJPII has now received this honor an unprecedented four times — previously in 1997, 2008, 2018, and again in 2024. This rare accomplishment places StJPII in an elite class of schools nationwide. Fewer than 1% of schools have ever been recognized as Blue Ribbon Schools, let alone multiple times across four consecutive decades. StJPII has earned this award more times than any other elementary school, public or private, in Texas, and is one of only nine elementary schools in the entire U.S. to receive this distinction as often. These accolades are only possible thanks to the grace of God!
About the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program
The Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools whose students achieve at very high levels or have made significant progress and helped close gaps in achievement, especially among disadvantaged and minority students. The program is part of a larger Department of Education effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about best school leadership and teaching practices.
The Blue Ribbon Schools Program sets a standard of excellence for all schools striving for the highest level of achievement. Each year since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education has sought out schools where students attain and maintain high academic goals, including those that beat the odds. To be named a Blue Ribbon School is to join an elite group
