Rebecca Bogard
Principal
Bio
Mrs. Bogard joined St. John Paul II Catholic School (StJPII) in 2010, initially serving as Elementary Assistant Principal before becoming Principal in 2016. Mrs. Bogard holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration and Supervision and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, both from the University of Houston. Her educational journey began in 2001 as a music teacher in Alief ISD, where she also served as a team leader and member of the campus shared decision council. Inspired to further her impact, she earned her administration degree and transitioned to Catholic education in 2008 as Principal of Queen of Peace Catholic School. In 2010, she felt called to StJPII, where her family found a true home. Since then, Mrs. Bogard has dedicated herself to leadership, nurturing the StJPII community and fostering a vibrant environment for its families.

Eric Olson
Assistant Principal, Middle School
Bio
Mr. Olson, a proud StJPII alumnus (Class of 1998), returned to his roots in 2020 to serve the faith-filled community that helped shape his own journey. After earning his degree from Texas State University and completing his M.Ed. in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, he spent much of his career teaching Social Studies, working in Campus Ministry, and coaching football and baseball. Now serving as the Middle School Assistant Principal, Mr. Olson brings both leadership and a servant’s heart to his role, striving to help students grow in knowledge, character, and faith. He and his wife have four children and enjoy traveling, sharing Tex-Mex meals, and cheering on their favorite Houston sports teams—all while keeping Christ at the center of their family life.

Ashley Wetwiski
Assistant Princiapl, Primary and Lower School
Bio
Ashley Wetwiski holds a bachelor’s degree in education, a Master of Science in Educational Administration, and STEM certification. She is a certified Love & Logic trainer and was previously recognized as an ACET teacher for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Ms. Wetwiski began her journey at StJPII in 2023 and brings over 20 years of experience in education. Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, she is engaged to her fiancé, Dan, and feels incredibly blessed by her two daughters. (Brianna is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine preparing for her upcoming wedding, and Gabrielle is a junior at Texas A&M University studying to become a physician assistant.) Ms. Wetwiski believes every child is created in the image and likeness of God, uniquely formed and deeply loved. Her favorite Bible verse, James 1:5–6, reminds her to seek wisdom with unwavering faith. She enjoys baking, reading, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends.

Bailey Burke
Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
Bio
Bailey Burke joined StJPII in 2023, bringing over a decade of early childhood education experience. She holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts and a Master’s in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction—both from Arizona State University. Certified in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, and ESL, Mrs. Burke is passionate about PreK and believes social-emotional learning is foundational to all academic success. Her classroom is a nurturing space where children learn to navigate challenges with compassion and creativity. She loves spending time with her family, especially at the beach or by the pool, and unwinding with a good book.

Catherine Hewett
Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Catherine Hewett is a lifelong Saint and proud alumna of StJPII! After graduating from St. John XXIII High School, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts with a minor in Classical Studies from Texas A&M University. Shortly after, she received her teaching certification and began teaching in 2017. In 2022, she completed her Master’s in Theatre from the University of Houston. Mrs. Hewett is thrilled to return home to StJPII. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Evan, and their dog, JJ. Her hobbies include reading, arts and crafts, singing Broadway tunes, and all things theatre.

McKenna Martin
Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. McKenna Martin has been teaching Pre-K at StJPII since 2020. She holds a BFA in Modern Dance from the University of Oklahoma and preformed with two dance companies and on the Disney Cruise Line before becoming a teacher. A Houston native, she is married with two young boys- one of whom attends StJPII. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 30:11, and she reminds her students daily: "Do good things!"

Martha Acosta

Sandra Arellano

Sandra Arellano has been a warm and nurturing presence at StJPII since 2007. Born in Florida and raised in Houston, Mrs. Arellano began as a Kindergarten Teaching Assistant before moving into her current role in Pre-K after three years. Her deep love for early childhood education shines through in everything she does. Mrs. Arellano finds great joy in helping young students begin their educational journey and watching them grow in both knowledge and faith. What she loves most about StJPII is the family-like community that surrounds her. Mrs. Arellano enjoys reading, attending baseball games, and going to the theater. She cherishes her Catholic faith and devotion to Mary and works daily to model that faith to her students. Mrs. Arellano is the proud mother of two sons, Lucas and Robert, and wife to her supportive husband, Henry.

Monica Morales
Kindergarten Teacher
Bio
Mrs. Morales began teaching in 2004 in the public school system of Austin ISD. After 4 years, she embarked on a new adventure by moving to Japan and England to teach elementary Spanish Immersion at DODEA schools for another 4 years. Hooked on adventure, she married after completing her teaching assignments and moved to Saudi Arabia with her husband, where her first child was born in 2012. In Saudi Arabia, she enjoyed travelling with her growing family to countries she had never thought of visiting. Mrs. Morales stayed at home for a while before returning to teaching in Spring Branch. Since her children had been attending StJPII, she taught 3rd grade for a year before moving to Kindergarten. The spontaneous, candid, and authentic nature of kindergarteners has given this grade level a special place in Mrs. Morales' heart.

Christine Ulery
Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Ulery has been part of the StJPII community since 2017 and currently teaches Kindergarten. A native Houstonian, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Both of her children are proud SJPII alumni, graduating in 2015 and 2019. Mrs. Ulery brings warmth, creativity, and a deep sense of purpose to her classroom each day. She believes that every child is a unique creation of God, filled with potential and purpose. A lifelong lover of books, she delights in selecting just the right stories to inspire and engage her students. Outside of school, she enjoys visiting her children in Austin and traveling.

Carol Weido
Kindergarten Teacher

Since 1998, Carol Weido has been a cornerstone of StJPII’s Kindergarten team. A graduate of the University of South Alabama, she has a true passion for teaching early literacy and believes that helping children learn to read is one of the most meaningful aspects of education. Her love for kindergarten is evident in the warmth and dedication she brings to her classroom each day. Mrs. Weido is known for her nurturing approach and joyful spirit, which inspire both students and fellow educators.

Kim McCurry
Kindergarten Assistant

Originally from New Orleans, Kim McCurry has been part of the StJPII family since 2006. With a heart for young learners, she brings warmth and patience to her role as a Kindergarten Teacher Aide. Mrs. McCurry finds great joy in the spiritual and personal impact she has on students each day, helping to build a strong foundation of faith and confidence during these formative years. She treasures the loving community at StJPII and the opportunity to help children grow in a Christ-centered environment.

Cindy Mendelson
Kindergarten Assistant

Cindy Mendelson has faithfully served the StJPII community since 1994. She attended the University of Houston, and she sees her role as a ministry, showing the love of Jesus through daily interactions with students and staff. Mrs. Mendelson meets children where they are and helps them reach their full potential with patience and care. Her commitment to prayer, encouragement, and example makes her an invaluable presence in the kindergarten classroom. Outside of school, she enjoys painting, bird watching, and traveling. Her favorite Bible verse is John 3:16, and she holds a deep devotion to St. Teresa of Calcutta.

Nora Garcia

Since joining StJPII in 2014, Nora Garcia has been dedicated to nurturing the hearts and minds of young learners. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio and holds certifications in early childhood, elementary, bilingual, and religious education. Mrs. Garcia believes every child brings a unique set of experiences, strengths, and challenges into the classroom, and she works to create an environment where each student feels safe, valued, and inspired to grow. Her faith is central to her teaching, and she finds strength in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Allyson Sutton
1st Grade Teacher

Allyson Sutton has been a beloved member of the StJPII faculty since 2005. A proud graduate of the University of Houston, she brings both passion and purpose to her first-grade classroom. Mrs. Sutton finds joy in helping students develop a love for reading and watching them grow into confident, independent learners. She is especially grateful to teach in a Catholic school where faith is woven into every subject. Her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:13, reflects her belief in the strength found through Christ. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys Pilates, reading, and spending time with her family. Her favorite saints include St. Faustina, St. Clare, and St. Anthony.

Nancy Valencia
1st Grade Teacher

Nancy Valencia has been a dedicated and joyful part of the StJPII teaching team since 2008. She earned her degree in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas and later obtained her Texas Teacher Certification for grades K–6. With nearly two decades of experience in first grade, Mrs. Valencia understands the importance of building strong relationships with her students. Her goal each year is to connect personally with each child, knowing that once trust is built, learning follows naturally. Mrs. Valencia feels blessed to be part of a school where faith and support are felt daily. A lifelong lover of travel—instilled by a childhood spent exploring the world with her family—Mrs. Valencia also enjoys reading mystery and suspense novels. Her favorite scripture, Isaiah 41:10, reminds her: “Fear not, for I am with you.”

Danielle Nunez
1st Grade Assistant

Danielle Nuñez grew up just outside of Chicago and earned her degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She moved to Houston in 2019 with her husband and two daughters and has since added three sons to the mix, embracing the joyful chaos of life with five children. Mrs. Nunez has always had a heart for teaching and a deep appreciation for Catholic education. She joined StJPII in 2025 and feels blessed to support students and families in their faith and learning journeys.

Olivia Chambers
2nd Grade Teacher

Olivia Chambers has been teaching second grade at St. John Paul II since 2024. She graduated from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette in 2021 in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in the Archdiocese of Denver and, after three years, moved home to Houston to teach at StJPII. Her goal as an educator is to help parents form their children in what is good, beautiful, and true. Ms. Chambers loves working at St. John Paul II because we strive to be great in all three and truly bring the love of Christ to all students, faculty, and staff. This school has been such a blessing!

Nikki Dias
2nd Grade Teacher

Nikki Dias joined the StJPII community in 2024, bringing with her a deep love for learning and an international perspective on education. She graduated with honors from the University of Mumbai with a Bachelor of Arts, and later earned her Bachelor of Education from Goa University in India. Mrs. Dias believes that every child is a gift from God, full of potential and deserving of a classroom rooted in love, respect, and joyful exploration. She especially enjoys teaching second grade, where students reach both academic and spiritual milestones. Mrs. Dias is married to her high school sweetheart, Ken, and they have two wonderful children, Koen and Kiera, along with a golden retriever named Zach. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13—“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”—and her favorite saint is St. Joseph.

Katherine Griffy

Katherine Griffy has proudly been with StJPII since 2025. A recent graduate of the University of Houston, she holds a bachelor’s degree in education and has a passion for inspiring young learners. Ms. Griffy is an active parishioner at St. John Vianney Catholic Church and enjoys spending time at farmers markets, reading, running, and caring for her three dogs and one cat. She feels blessed to be joining the StJPII community and looks forward to many joyful years of faith, learning, and growth with her students.

Payton Donoghue
3rd Grade Teacher

Payton Donoghue joined StJPII in 2024, excited to be part of a faith-filled community that values academic excellence and joyful learning. A graduate of Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire, Mrs. Donoghue brings energy and creativity to the classroom, helping her students grow in both confidence and knowledge. She believes learning should be fun, engaging, and filled with moments that inspire curiosity. Mrs. Donoghue feels at home at StJPII and is grateful for the supportive environment that surrounds her each day. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, organizing, and traveling to new places.

Lauren Pace
3rd Grade Teacher

Lauren Pace holds a degree in Communications from Louisiana State University and is certified to teach Early Childhood through 6th Grade, English as a Second Language, and 8th through 12th Grade Speech. She has dedicated her entire career to education, serving in roles ranging from classroom teaching to development, and is passionate about building strong school communities. Mrs. Pace joined StJPII in 2021 and is also a proud parent of three students.

Wendy Santos

Wendy Santos joined StJPII in 2024, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deeply rooted faith. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in EC–8 Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Management, both from the University of Houston. Mrs. Santos believes that her calling as a teacher is to help children discover their God-given gifts, understand how deeply they are loved by Him, and equip them with the knowledge and tools to make a meaningful impact on the world. She is passionate about developing the whole child—spiritually, academically, and emotionally. Wendy enjoys reading, cooking, crafting, and finding God’s presence in nature. One of her favorite quotes is, “We cannot become what we are meant to be by remaining what we are.”

Mary Beth Condara
4th Grade Teacher - Social Studies & Religion

Mary Beth Condara has been a part of the StJPII family since 2002, first as a parent and then as a beloved teacher. She holds a BBA from Texas Tech University, earned her teaching certification through the University of St. Thomas/Region IV, and completed an English as a New Language certification from the University of Notre Dame. Ms. Condara is passionate about helping students grow academically, socially, and spiritually. With over two decades of classroom experience, she creates a nurturing space where students thrive. She is the proud mother of three grown children—all of whom attended StJPII from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Carrie Riley
4th Grade Teacher - Language Arts

Carrie Riley has been shaping young minds at StJPII since 1999. She holds a B.A. in Art from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Houston. Known for her creativity and dedication, Mrs. Riley connects classroom learning to real-life situations, preparing students to apply their knowledge beyond school. Her favorite Bible verse, Psalm 118:24, reflects the joy she brings to teaching each day. A longtime StJPII parent herself, she treasures the school’s community and traditions. During the summer, she enjoys hiking in Colorado with her husband, son, and extended family.

Michelle Williamson
4th Grade Teacher - Math & Science

Michelle Williamson joined the StJPII faculty in 2017 and has been a dedicated teacher ever since. A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, Mrs. Williamson taught third grade for seven years before moving to fourth grade math and science, where she continues to inspire students with her love of learning. She believes every child is a unique gift from God and strives to create a faith-filled classroom where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. All three of her children are StJPII alumni and graduates of St. Agnes and St. Thomas High School. The Williamson family shares a strong Aggie tradition and loves attending Texas A&M football games each fall. Outside the classroom, Mrs. Williamson enjoys spending time at the family ranch in Edna, Texas, playing Mahjong, reading, traveling, and escaping to Colorado—her favorite place to relax and recharge.

Karen Love
5th Grade Teacher - Social Studies & Religion

Since 1998, Karen Love has been a cherished member of the StJPII faculty. She earned her degree from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, and brings decades of classroom experience to her role as a 5th grade teacher. Mrs. Love values the strong bonds among staff and families at StJPII, describing the community as one big family rooted in faith. Her love for teaching is matched by her joy in helping students grow academically and spiritually in a nurturing environment. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Love enjoys treasure-hunting at antique shows and estate sales. She is married to her supportive husband, Kirk, and finds inspiration in Psalm 34:8—“Taste and see that the Lord is good.”

Martha Philips
5th Grade Teacher - Math & Science

Since 1997, Martha Philips has brought creativity, structure, and compassion to her classroom at StJPII. A native of New Orleans, she attended LSU and earned her degree from the University of New Orleans with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. In 2024, she earned her STEM certification to continue expanding her teaching toolkit. Mrs. Philips has taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade and delights in seeing students grow in both knowledge and faith. She considers it a privilege to be part of a community that nurtures academic excellence and character. A devoted LSU and Saints fan, she also loves dogs—especially her Golden Retriever.

Stacie Sudkamp
5th Grade Teacher - Language Arts

Stacie Sudkamp is a native Houstonian and has been a proud member of the StJPII faculty since 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with a reading minor from Stephen F. Austin State University, along with ESL, STEM, and Kindergarten certifications. Teaching at StJPII is more than a job to her—it’s a calling. She strives to create a classroom rooted in faith, where students feel seen, valued, and encouraged to grow in both academics and their relationship with God. Her son, Andrew, is a graduate of the Class of 2017, making her connection to the school both personal and professional.

Jessica Brayshaw joined the StJPII community in 2021 and brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and compassion to her middle school science classroom. A graduate of the University of Houston–Clear Lake, she values the strong sense of family shared among teachers, staff, parents, and students. Mrs. Brayshaw enjoys traveling with her husband and daughter, cooking and hosting friends, and staying active through running. When it’s time to slow down, she loves to curl up with a good book and a warm cup of tea. Her favorite scripture, Joshua 1:9, reminds her to be strong and courageous, trusting in God’s presence at all times.

Valerie Calvillo
6th Grade Teacher - Religion & Social Studies

Betty Festa
6th Grade Teacher - Language Arts

Ms. Elizabeth Festa has dedicated over four decades to education and has been a part of the StJPII faculty since 1994. She earned her B.A. in Education from Nicholls State College in Thibodaux, Louisiana. With a gift for explaining complex concepts with clarity, Ms. Festa strives to make learning meaningful for every student. Teaching in a Catholic school allows her to fulfill a greater mission—guiding students not just academically but spiritually. She treasures time spent with her siblings and their families. Her favorite scripture is from Ecclesiastes: “There is an appointed time for everything.”

Jordan Fama
7th Grade Teacher - 7th & 8th Grade Social Studies

Jordan Fama joined the StJPII faculty in 2016 and brings both passion and purpose to her role as a middle school history teacher. A graduate of Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education, Ms. Fama is committed to forming students who are not only academically prepared but also grounded in their Catholic faith and ready to make a positive impact in the world. She strives to cultivate classrooms that foster critical thinking, empathy, and a strong moral compass. Ms. Fama considers StJPII more than just a workplace—it’s a family where faith, love, and learning grow side by side. In her free time, she enjoys reading and horseback riding. Inspired by St. Madeleine Sophie Barat’s words, “For the sake of one child, I would have founded the society,” Ms. Fama approaches each day with the goal of changing lives, one student at a time.

Sarah Gassman
7th Grade Teacher & 6th Grade Math

Mrs. Gassman started teaching math StJPII in January of 2025. She taught high school and college level math courses as well as coached and led teams of math teachers for 17 years before landing here. Mrs. Gassman loves being a part of this community as both a teacher and a parent. She hopes to assist in the growth of the children at StJPII academically, socially, and spiritually, so they can become the best versions of themselves as they continue their journey into adolescence. Mrs. Gassman truly believes that each child is equipped with their own special gifts, talents, and strengths that together parents and teachers can help foster.

Catherine Perkins
7th Grade Teacher - Language Arts

Catherine Perkins was born and raised in South Louisiana and attended Sacred Heart Elementary and High School. She graduated from Louisiana State University with an English: Secondary Education degree, and she earned a Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. Mrs. Perkins has experience teaching 6th and 7th grade English Language Arts, and she spent time outside of the classroom, supporting teachers as an instructional coach. She’s been a part of the StJPII community since 2019. Mrs. Perkins is a STEM-certified teacher and an ACET teacher for the Archdiocese. When she is not teaching, Mrs. Perkins enjoys reading, trying new recipes, cheering on her LSU Tigers, and exploring Houston with her husband and son. She and her husband support newly engaged couples preparing for marriage through their church parish, St. Bartholomew The Apostle. Mrs. Perkins and her family feel very blessed to be a part of a community that brings us closer to Jesus each day.

Sheila Drewes
8th Grade Teacher - Language Arts

Sheila Drewes has been shaping young minds at StJPII since 1996, bringing wisdom, warmth, and wit to her classroom. A graduate of Michigan State University, Mrs. Drewes is passionate about helping students grow into confident communicators and critical thinkers. She believes that raising individuals of faith is one of the greatest gifts we can offer the next generation. Her teaching philosophy centers on grace and growth—every student deserves the chance to learn from mistakes and continue striving toward their full potential. Her classroom is a place where literature comes alive, second chances are encouraged, and hope is ever-present. Mrs. Drewes enjoys books, sports, sewing, and treasures the promise of Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord…” She is also incredibly proud of her two children, whom she calls “awesome people.”

Anne Hawkins

Antonella Padula
8th Grade Teacher - Religion & 7th Grade Religion

Ms. Padula teaches 7th and 8th grade Theology at StJPII. Originally from Venezuela, she brings a rich cultural perspective to her classroom and a deep love for the Catholic faith. She is a firm believer in the mission of Catholic education to shape both the soul and the mind, and she feels called to help students grow in their relationship with Christ. Ms. Padula comes from a strong Catholic school background and values the opportunity to share that tradition at StJPII. She is also a devoted mother to two loving children and treasures being part of a faith-filled community that fosters both academic excellence and spiritual formation.

Paul Skudder
8th Grade Teacher - IPC

Paul Skudder joined the StJPII faculty in 2024, bringing a rich background in science and education. He earned his B.A. from Williams College and a Master of Science from the University of Montana. Mr. Skudder began his career as a geologist in the environmental and energy sectors before pursuing alternative certification and teaching high school science for six years. He believes that each child is uniquely created by God and views education as a process of helping students grow into that vision. Mr. Skudder enjoys fishing, grilling, gardening, music, and being outdoors. Rhonda Stieber has been teaching since 2004 and holds a B.S. from the University of Houston with tri-degrees in Art, Science, and English. Her teaching philosophy is to instill the creativity of each individual student within a faith-based environment. She and her husband Mark have been married for 43 years and enjoy time with their daughter Elyse, a StJPII alum and Pediatric ER nurse in Denver. Rhonda is a lifelong learner who loves gardening, traveling, the arts, and finds inspiration in her favorite saint, Joan of Arc, and Psalm 23.

Kenneth Griffin has been shaping young musicians at StJPII since 2001, following an extraordinary 31-year career in public school education. A graduate of East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University–Commerce), where he earned both his B.S. and M.S. in Music, Mr. Griffin brings a legacy of excellence to the school’s award-winning band program. Since his arrival, his bands have earned consistent Sweepstakes Awards and brought home numerous state honors. He is also a published composer and has received multiple lifetime achievement awards, including induction into the Texas Bandmasters Hall of Fame and the ATSSB Hall of Fame. Beyond accolades, Kenneth treasures the loving, Christ-centered atmosphere at StJPII, where educators share a deep dedication to both faith and the pursuit of excellence.

Kadi Abad

Kadi Abad has been teaching Technology and Journalism at StJPII since 2022. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Southeastern Louisiana University and an M.Ed. in Educational Technology Leadership from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. A STEM-certified and ACET teacher, she enjoys working with students of all ages and loves watching them grow into creative and responsible digital citizens.

Kelly Hughes has been teaching Middle School Choir and Theatre Arts since Spring 2016. She holds a degree in Education from Texas A&M University and an MBA in International Marketing from the University of Dallas. After beginning her career in Houston and teaching for 10 years in Catholic schools in Oklahoma, she developed a deep love for faith-based education. Kelly enjoys gardening, sailing, reading, playing classical piano, and attending Aggie football games with her husband Kenneth and their four children.

Shari Hiltbrand

Dr. Hiltbrand has been at StJPII since 2017 where she combines her faith and passion for educating children in a creative environment. Dr. Hiltbrand teaches SOAR and works with kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classes in the STREAM Lab. As the STEM Innovation Specialist, Dr. Hiltbrand utilizes her extensive background in Science and STEM Education to assist with StJPII’s Science Curriculum and implement STEM practices into all grade levels. Dr. Hiltbrand is dedicated to producing learners who can create, collaborate, communicate, think critically and problem-solve. She combined her passion for science and gifted education, attaining a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction-STEM Education from Texas Tech University in 2021, with a research focus on science and giftedness. Outside of coaching robotics, TSA, and implementing STEM, Dr. Hiltbrand enjoys spending time with her husband, Rob, their Cardigan Corgi Gibbs, and their two cats, Scully and Mulder.

Sherry Lamb

Sherry Lamb has served as the beloved librarian at StJPII since 1993. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas in Houston and a graduate degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas in Denton. With a passion for igniting a love of reading in students of all ages, Mrs. Lamb brings books to life through creative genre studies—often complete with fun hats and costumes! Her enthusiasm makes the library a place of imagination and joy. She believes each day is a new adventure, and she delights in helping students discover something new. A woman of deep faith, she shares, “Christ is my shepherd. I am His sheep—actually His Lamb!” Outside of school, Mrs. Lamb enjoys reading, traveling, crafting, gardening, and music.

Lucy Dao has been sharing her passion for music with StJPII students since 1993. Her teaching is rooted in faith and guided by her favorite scripture: “Lord, I come to do your will.” Mrs. Dao brings both musical expertise and a spiritual presence to the classroom, creating joyful moments where students grow in confidence, whether singing at Mass or performing in musicals. Inspired by St. Lucy, she strives to see each child through the eyes of Jesus, fostering a classroom filled with compassion and understanding. Born in Vietnam and arriving in the U.S. as a refugee by boat, Mrs. Dao brings a powerful story of resilience and faith to her work. She also spent time in the convent, and her life continues to be a witness of devotion and joy. While she doesn’t swim or play sports, she embraces adventure through travel, always eager to learn more and share those experiences with others.

Mary Beth Hewitt

Coach Hewitt has worked in PE & Athletics at StJPII since 2004. The Hewitt family started here in 2000 with their two oldest children in Kinder & PreK, then had all 3 kids at StJPII by 2004! Her husband Drew has always been a great supporter and volunteer, and they are profoundly grateful for the faith foundation given to their three children as they "grew up" here at StJPII.

Magda Figueroa has been a vibrant part of the StJPII community since 2014, officially joining the staff in 2018. She holds a law degree from Universidad Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho in Venezuela and earned a Land Management certification from the University of Houston. Mrs. Figueroa has supported nearly every classroom on campus as a substitute before stepping into her current role as PE Teacher Assistant. Her favorite part of the job is watching students grow and thrive, and she approaches her work with love, positivity, and enthusiasm. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, trying new foods, spending time with her family, and—surprisingly—doing laundry!

Jennifer Linhardt

Jennifer Linhardt joined the StJPII faculty in 2021, bringing with her over a decade of experience in Physical Education and Health. Originally from Moore, Oklahoma, she is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma. Coach Linhardt’s mission is to inspire students to live balanced, healthy lives—physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. She views PE as foundational for building character and cultivating gratitude, resilience, and purpose. Her hobbies include reading and caring for plants, and she has a deep devotion to St. Francis of Assisi. One of Coach Linhardt's favorite scriptures is John 8:12: “I am the light of the world…”

Karolina Wall believes that physical education plays a vital role in nurturing the whole child—body, mind, and spirit. She joined StJPII in 2024, excited to bring her passion for fitness and character development to a faith-centered environment. A proud graduate of Baylor University, Coach Wall integrates teamwork, confidence, and joy into every class she teaches. Her goal is to help students build lifelong habits of wellness while also fostering respect, discipline, and gratitude. She is excited to contribute to a school that values community and holistic growth in every student.

Anna Silveira

Mrs. Silveira has been at StJPII since 2022 and provides academic support through reading and math interventions and dyslexia therapy. She holds a Bachelor's degree in classical archaeology from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master's degree in educational leadership from The University of St. Thomas. Her years working in academic support at StJPII are the proudest of her career. Her family's patron saints are Padre Pio, St. Therese, and Servant of God Dorothy Day.

Kristel Figueroa

Kristel Figueroa joined StJPII in 2024, bringing with her a strong educational background and a heart for student success. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Bilingual Education from Texas A&M International University. Mrs. Figueroa believes that every student has the potential to become a lifelong learner when they feel seen, supported, and challenged. Her compassionate approach and commitment to equity make her a strong advocate for students’ academic growth. Outside the classroom, she enjoys family time and traveling. Her favorite scripture, Matthew 21:22—"And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith"—guides her daily work.

Carola Maruri

Carola Maruri joined the StJPII faculty in 2024, bringing with her a rich background in early education from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela. She views language instruction as a gateway to cultural exploration and academic growth. In her classroom, students engage with diverse cultures through reading, research, and interactive activities. She fosters positive relationships and sees them as essential to learning. Mrs. Maruri values the strong sense of community at StJPII and cherishes time with her family, traveling, and exercising. Her favorite saints are St. Benedict and Pope St. John Paul II.

Sara Nunez
Spanish - Elementary

Sara Nunez has been teaching Spanish at StJPII since 2021, bringing a joyful energy and deep cultural appreciation to her classes. She earned her degree in Psychopedagogy and Education from Universidad Católica de Monterrey, Mexico, and holds certifications in early childhood intervention, bilingual literacy, and creative teaching strategies. As a second language teacher, Ms. Nunez views early childhood as the perfect time to spark students’ interest in global cultures and languages. She creates interactive, music-filled lessons that help students connect, explore, and celebrate diversity. A proud Houstonian for 19 years, Ms. Nunez's two children are StJPII alumni and have gone on to thrive in high school, college, and medical school. She also runs a nonprofit therapy center for Hispanic teens. In her spare time, she loves music, dancing, crocheting, and traveling the world.

Cindy Kim has been sharing her creativity and joyful energy with students at StJPII since 2005. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Louisiana State University and a Master’s degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. In her Music and Movement classes, Mrs. Kim focuses on teaching motor skills, rhythm, and teamwork in a loving and supportive environment. Her teaching philosophy is to be friendly, fair, and flexible, guiding students with both structure and compassion. Mrs. Kim is also a proud StJPII parent, with two children who are alumni of the school. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, and crafting.

Maggie Rhoden

Maggie Rhoden is a native of Houston, TX. She attended Duchesne Academy and then went on to earn her BSN from Creighton University in 2009. As a registered nurse, she worked in the newborn ICU for 9 years before returning to school to complete her MSN from Angelo State University. She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, and worked at an outpatient pediatric clinic for 8 years, caring for children from newborn through adolescence. In 2024, she made the switch to school nursing and joined the StJPII community, and has loved every minute of it! As a school nurse at a Catholic school, Mrs. Rhoden reports she finds deep joy and purpose in caring for students not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Every day offers a chance to support children in a nurturing environment rooted in kindness, service, and respect—values that align beautifully with her calling as a nurse. In her free time, Mrs. Rhoden enjoys reading, embroidery, and cooking, as well as spending time and traveling with her awesome husband and beautiful 2 children.

Jennifer Quinlan

Jennifer Quinlan has been supporting students at StJPII as Elementary Counselor since 2018. She holds a Master of Arts in Education (School Counseling) and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University, along with an ESL supplemental certification. Ms. Quinlan is passionate about helping students grow into confident, compassionate individuals. She focuses on supporting their academic, emotional, and social development, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in school and life. Her calm, caring presence makes her a trusted resource for students and families alike.

Laura Jackson

Laura Jackson, MEd, LPC-A, is a native Texan who has lived and worked across the country, raising children and working in the fields of writing and journalism. She holds a degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s in counseling from Lamar University. Most recently, she has served children, teens, and adults at Gratia Plena, a Catholic counseling nonprofit, as well as students of all ages at St. Constantine School in Houston. Mrs. Jackson integrates art, writing, play, and prayer into her counseling practice and has also been active in youth ministry and faith formation. She has gratefully worked at StJPII since 2025, providing support, resources, and compassion.

Laura Doherty

Mrs. Doherty started her career in education as a middle school History teacher (2008) before earning her master's degree in educational counseling (2013) and transitioning into the role of high school counselor in her previous district. She was thrilled to join the StJPII community in 2017 as the elementary school counselor. Mrs. Doherty served in that role here for 2 years when she left to spend more time at home with her new baby. She returned to our wonderful school in 2023, at the middle school counseling level, in a part time capacity. Mrs. Doherty is thrilled to be a part of the Saints’ community once again. She is grateful to return to a Catholic school community where she feels there is something truly special about working with kids & families in a school setting where faith, learning, and a strong sense of purpose come together.

Jessi Cook has been part of the StJPII staff as Development Director since 2014. She is a proud Texas Aggie with a degree in Communications and began her career in the energy industry at Phillips 66. A former StJPII parent, Mrs. Cook fondly remembers her two children’s years at the school (Classes of 2023 and 2024). A graduate of St. Agnes Academy, she deeply values Catholic education and feels grateful to support families who share in StJPII’s mission. Outside of work, Mrs. Cook enjoys time with her family and dogs, the beach, and the ever-changing adventures of her children and their friends as they become adults. Her favorite StJPII tradition is graduation—a special celebration of faith, growth, and the lifelong bonds formed among students, families, and teachers.

Brittany Haley has served StJPII since 2018, bringing energy and enthusiasm to her role as Annual Giving and Events Coordinator. A Texas A&M graduate and Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Mrs. Haley blends professionalism with deep faith in her work. She considers it a blessing to be part of a school where she can live out her Catholic values daily. Mrs. Haley and her husband have four children—all proud Saints! Kristi Yohr has been sharing her love for the Catholic faith with students at StJPII since 2011. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary/Middle School Education from Kansas State University and holds a Level 3 Catechist Certificate from the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Originally from the Midwest, Mrs. Yohr has lived in Iowa, Colorado, Indiana, and Kansas before settling in Texas. She is passionate about helping children grow in their relationship with Christ through prayer, scripture, and sacraments. Mrs. Yohr and her husband Richard have been married since 1992 and have four children—all graduates of StJPII. She loves gardening, playing board games, and spending time with her yellow lab, Ace, and three cats. Her favorite verse is Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd.”

Since joining StJPII in 2015, Cyndi Grunenberg has become an integral part of the school community, which she calls her second home. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, she serves as StJPII Registrar, where she keeps the office running efficiently. Mrs. Grunenberg is the proud mother of three daughters, two of whom are StJPII alumni (Classes of 2021 and 2023). She has a deep love for animals—especially her two Labradors and two bunnies—and finds joy in nature, particularly at the beach. Her favorite saint is St. Francis of Assisi, whose love for all creatures inspires her daily life.

Mariangie Pagan joined the StJPII staff in 2014 and plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the school as Business Manager. Mrs. Pagan is passionate about education and loves being part of a community united by shared beliefs, values, and a commitment to preparing students for the next phases of life. Originally from New Orleans, Kim McCurry has been part of the StJPII family since 2006. With a heart for young learners, she brings warmth and patience to her role as a Kindergarten Teacher Aide. Mrs. McCurry finds great joy in the spiritual and personal impact she has on students each day, helping to build a strong foundation of faith and confidence during these formative years. She treasures the loving community at StJPII and the opportunity to help children grow in a Christ-centered environment.
